The burden of incarceration falls back on women and families in unmeasurable ways. The One Minute Remaining film highlights women and families across the United States managing their loved ones incarceration while searching to articulate their frustrations.
Julie Magers is the inspiration for the film. Her fierce advocacy and personal experience made the film possible. The film documents her struggle to get appropriate healthcare to her former husband as his Multiple Sclerosis goes untreated during his 20 year sentence.
After documenting Julie Magers' story, the filmmakers focused their lens to woman around the country while articulating a more complete picture of the consequence on women. Highlighting stories in Maryland, Minnesota, and Illinois the film aims to develop public understanding of the impact of incarceration on families.
